President of Kazakhstan urges to develop creative economy

Talented, creative young implementers will be involved in the projects.

On March 17, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev held an online meeting on the further progressive development of Almaty. The leader of Kazakhstan focused on using the methodologies of creative economy as a major aspect of the strategy, the press office of Akorda reported.

Tokayev said many accomplishments during 30 years of independence had been very closely associated with Almaty. The President dwelt on the positive social and economic indicators achieved in 2020 and noted existing volatility and fragile dynamics.

The President said Almaty needed new bases and footholds for growth in modern conditions, and a creative economy could serve as one of such toolkits. Advanced international practice clearly shows that effective linkages between the creator of innovative ideas, the younger generation and business serve as an effective mechanism.

The Kazakh leader said such technologies as crowdfunding, educational hubs, investment rounds and business angels had proven their effectiveness in the foreign business world. Akimat had an understanding and vision of how to develop a creative economy, and Almaty’s practices should be applied in other regions, involving talented, creative young implementers, Tokayev emphasised.

Noting that the introduction of a creative economy would be a new aspect of the national economic strategy, the President instructed the Government to build the legal framework for the know-how.
