President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Kristalina Georgieva. Following talks, Georgieva said the IMF is ready to expand cooperation with Tajikistan, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reported.
The participants discussed a new IMF programme aimed at improving the investment climate, business environment and social budgeting in the Republic.
Kristalina Georgieva emphasised the importance of this initiative, particularly in the context of the construction of the Rogun hydropower plant that plays a key role in boosting the development of Tajikistan and the entire region. In her opinion, the Rogun hydropower plant will be a source of «green» energy, which is critical to supporting the business sector and meeting the energy needs of local populations.
