On January 12, Ambassador of Tajikistan to China Saidzoda Zohir Ozod took part in a briefing on the presidency of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in 2021. He highlighted the need for all SCO Member States to expand trade and economic cooperation, the TASS News Agency reported.
He noted that the SCO Business Council and the Interbank Consortium should develop effective tools to support small and medium-sized businesses. Particular attention should be paid to encouraging investment, the Ambassador said.
Ozod proposed the creation of a specialized financial institution under the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. He noted that Tajikistan was actively promoting the creation of an e-commerce platform and digital infrastructure within the organisation, as well as the expansion of international logistics networks.
The diplomat said that Dushanbe would host a roundtable meeting on digital economy this year in support of its initiative. The Tajikistan authorities also proposed that the SCO Economic Forum would take place in the capital of Tajikistan in 2021.
The Ambassador underscored the importance of fighting the coronavirus pandemic and its impacts on the economy and social care.
