As of January 10, 2020, an epidemic situation in Tajikistan during the coronavirus pandemic is favourable. The total number of infected citizens has reached 13,308. Nearly all patients have recovered, the press office of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan reports.
The Ministry reported that 13,215 coronavirus patients had recovered as of January 10, 2020, which is 99.3% of all coronavirus patients. Since the COVID-19 outbreak, 90 people have died of novel coronavirus infection. In the past 24 hours, newly infected citizens numbered 3.
The first case of novel coronavirus infection in the country was registered on April 30, 2020. The Government of Tajikistan took immediate measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
All air and rail movements with all countries were suspended, it was made mandatory to wear facemasks and university students and schoolchildren were sent home.
As was reported, in early January, Minister of Health and Social Protection Jamoliddin Abdullozoda said that the mass vaccination campaign would be launched in the second half of 2021.
