The President of Tajikistan noted that investments played an important role in partnerships.
In an interview to Qatari Ash Sharq, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon highly evaluated cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and Qatar. He noted that investments had a special place in bilateral cooperation, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reported on January 7.
Rahmon emphasised that shared cultural and historical values underlay bilateral interaction. The Tajik leader said that Qatar’s investments in Tajikistan exceeded $62 million.
The funds are used to implement the projects, including the first construction stage of the Diyori Dushanbe residential estate and the Rogun hydroelectric power station. The Tajik leader said that to date, 2 of 6 units at the hydroelectric power station had been into operation.
The President paid special attention to the Qatar-funded construction project of the Central Asia’s largest mosque in Dushanbe. The mosque occupies an area of 12 hectares and has 4 75-metre-high towers and a 47-metre-high dome.
The Tajik leader also noted the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Doha was a historic event for all Muslim countries.
As was reported, in early December 2020, the Ministry of Labour, Migration and Employment of Tajikistan reported that local authorities would ensure decent working conditions for labour migrants from Tajikistan in Qatar.
