The Institute of State, Law and Democracy of Turkmenistan jointly with Turkmenistan Office for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) held a seminar to review the progress toward the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, adopted at the Fourth World Conference on Women, at the national level, Turkmenistan: Golden Age reported.
The members of the working group under the Interagency Commission to ensure the implementation of Turkmenistan’s international obligations on human rights and international humanitarian law from the ministries and state and public organisations attended the meeting.
The Beijing Declaration and the Platform for Action, adopted at the Fourth World Conference on Women in 1995, are the fundamental documents aimed at achieving gender equality and empowering women in all spheres of life.
These documents also aim to eliminate all forms of discrimination against women and increase women’s participation in decision-making. The Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, adopted by 189 countries, remains the most comprehensive and transformative agenda for gender equality and advancement of women globally.
