Turkmenistan to continue working on new projects to export more gas to China

The Turkmen foreign minister discussed this issue with the president of CNPC.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with Hou Qijun, President of the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), who paid a working visit to Ashgabat. The head of MFA noted that the Central Asian country intends to continue implementing new projects to increase gas exports to China. This was reported to CentralAsia.news by the press office of the Turkmen department.

The parties paid special attention to the current level and prospects for further cooperation between Turkmenistan and CNPC. Rashid Meredov and Hou Qijun noted the importance of regular meetings between the heads of the states.

The minister of foreign affairs and the president of the corporation agreed that the fuel and energy sector is a priority area of the relations between two countries.

Turkmenistan supplies China with approximately 40 billion cubic meters of gas  annually. Transportation of the fuel is carried out via three lines of the transnational gas pipeline Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China. In the future, the corresponding export will be increased up to 65 billion cubic meters.
