The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov spoke with the head of the MFA of Israel Eli Cohen on the phone. The conversation was initiated by Jerusalem. The diplomats discussed the further development of interstate cooperation in trade and economy. This was reported to CentralAsia.news by the press office of the Turkmen department.
Officials noted the expediency of establishing direct contacts between entrepreneurs of the countries. According to them, this step will help strengthen relations between Ashgabat and Jerusalem in the above areas.
Meredov noted the effectiveness of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Israel within the framework of international organizations, in particular in the United Nations.
In April, 2023, a permanent embassy of the Jewish state was opened in Ashgabat. For this purpose, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel arrived in the capital of Turkmenistan on an official visit for the first time in 30 years. Prior to this event, the foreign mission was located in a temporary building. Diplomatic relations between the countries were established in 1993.
