Bakhtovar Safarzoda was appointed Permanent and Authorized Representative of Tajikistan to the statutory and other bodies of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon signed the document, Sputnik Tajikistan reports.
Safarzoda held the position of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Tajikistan to Belarus. He served as a full representative of the Parliament of Tajikistan in the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly.
Bakhtovar Safarzoda is a Doctor of Law and served as Head of the Department of Human Rights at the National University of Tajikistan. Since 2015, he has been a member of the Committee on Legislation and Human Rights at the Government of Tajikistan.
Safarzoda has won the elections twice — he represented the People’s Democratic Party of Tajikistan from Vakhsh constituency in 2015 and 2020.
