Residents of Osh Region tell parliamentarians their problems

Most of the questions raised concerned the socio-economic sphere.

On May 31, a parliamentarian of the Kyrgyz Republic Baktybek Sadykov chaired an off-site meeting in Uzgen district, Osh Region. The members of the Committee on Transport, Communications, Architecture and Construction of the Jogorku Kenesh participated in the visit. The parliamentarians met with the local residents who told them their problems, the press office of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan reports.

Noting that Uzgen district is one of the most vulnerable to mudflows and floods, the local residents asked to expedite bank stabilisation works and construction of mudflow diversion channels.

The participants also asked the parliamentarians to resolve the issue of land transformation, since more than 20,000 residents of Uzgen district are on the waiting list for land plots, and expedite construction of a bypass road to Uzgen town.

Noting that 20 villages in the region have no drinking water supply networks, the local residents asked the parliamentarians to ensure access to drinking water.

Baktybek Sadykov stressed that the Committee would follow up on measures to be taken to solve the problems raised during the meeting.
