Tokayev and Mirziyoyev to combine efforts to ensure regional security

Stability in Central Asia is an issue of concern against the background of the situation in Afghanistan.

On June 3, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev had a telephone conversation with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. They exchanged views on the progress of bilateral cooperation and the current agenda of regional relations, the website of the President of Kazakhstan reports.

The leaders of the two states noted the effectiveness of Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan multifaceted cooperation and their mutual intention to deepen consistently strategic cooperation. In this context, the interlocutors dwelt on the practical content of cooperation.

The emphasis was placed on the significant role of implementing the high-level agreements. These agreements cover industry, mechanical engineering, agriculture and transport, where the importance of close interaction between the executive state bodies of the two countries was noted.

The leaders of the two states focused on addressing the regional challenges. Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev and Shavkat Mirziyoyev were unanimous in their intention to combine efforts towards strengthening security and stability in Central Asia against the backdrop of the situation in Afghanistan.
