Kazakhstan and China ready to develop joint strategies

The President of Kazakhstan invited his Chinese counterpart to consider innovative areas of joint activities.

On June 2, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev had a telephone conversation with Chairman of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping. The leaders of the two countries expressed their readiness to foster a trusting dialogue that lay the groundwork for pragmatic and long-term strategic cooperation, the press office of Akorda reported.

Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev confirmed Kazakhstan’s further commitment to diversifying transit transport networks across the country. The President highlighted substantial gains arising from the speedy restoration of the normal operation of road and railway border checkpoints and the resumption of regular air services. The leader of Kazakhstan emphasised that positive decisions in these areas would be a positive signal for business circles and the wider public of the two countries.

The leader of Kazakhstan invited his interlocutor to consider innovative areas of joint activities, including finance and digital and green technologies. The parties agreed that the Governments of the two countries would deliberate on these initiatives.

The interlocutors exchanged views on key international and regional issues. In this context, they noted the progress in bilateral interaction within the UN and SCO and on the Central Asia – China platform.

Xi Jinping noted that Kazakhstan, as a large and developed state, would make every possible effort to maintain security and peace in Central Asia, especially after the United States had withdrawn troops from Afghanistan.
