On April 17, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part in the opening ceremony of the Tejen-Mary section of the Ashgabat-Turkmenabat highway. In his speech, the President noted the positive dynamics in the implementation of such ambitious projects in the country, Turkmenistan: Golden Age reported.
«The Ashgabat-Turkmenabat highway that runs across Ahal and Mary velayat will connect Ashgabat with Lebap velayat and allow covering the huge distance between the capital and the region in a very short time. It will also ensure smooth transportation of passengers and goods. The completion of the Ashgabat-Turkmenabat highway project will allow significantly increasing the throughput capacity of the country’s transport system and improving the quality of logistics services. Improving the transport system, in turn, will have a huge impact on the dynamics of economic growth,» Serdar Berdimuhamedov said.
The President emphasised that Turkmenistan is located at the crossroad of two continents, and such a favourable location provides a tremendous advantage in creating a transnational transport and logistics corridor. The President added that the integration of Turkmenistan’s transport sector into the global system will help strengthen trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties with partner countries.
