Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Kanat Bozumbayev led a meeting on the preparations for the fire season in the country, the press office of the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers reported.
It was noted that the Ministry of Emergency Situations has 441 fire departments, 230 volunteer formations and 709 posts of local executive bodies. Bozumbayev urged to set up as soon as possible 49 fire stations in the regions which lack the state fire services.
The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources inspected 158 state forest owners and detected fire safety violations. Bozumbayev noted the need to take measures to address the violations and provide employees with firefighting gear and equipment.
Following the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister instructed the regional akimats to develop local action plans to reduce the risk of wildfires within a week, emphasising their responsibility for implementing the action plans.
