Citizens who exceed this tariff will be required to pay the market rates for electricity and gas.

The Government of Uzbekistan is going to set up the social gas and electricity tariffs. According to the authorities, the innovation will come into force on May 1 of the year, Gazeta.uz reports.

Deputy Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Umid Mamadaminov provided details about the social energy tariffs to be set up. He noted that the Government of the Republic adopted the relevant Resolution.

According to the document, the social energy tariffs for citizens are set at 200 kWh of electricity per month, up to 100 cubic metres of gas from March to October and up to 500 cubic metres of gas in the cold season. If they exceed the tariff, they will pay the market rates for electricity or gas.

The authorities of Uzbekistan increased the gas and electricity tariffs for citizens in August 2019. The Government announced tariff increases several times, but each time it cancelled the decision. The tariffs for large businesses, companies and legal entities were last adjusted on October 1, 2023.
