Foreign ministers from Central Asian and Gulf Arab states meet in Tashkent

The ministers arrived to Uzbekistan to discuss key aspects of economic, cultural, transport and investment cooperation.

On April 15, a meeting of the Strategic Dialogue between the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Central Asia and the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf has started in the capital of Uzbekistan. The agenda focuses on promoting cooperation among the friendly states, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan reported.

The foreign ministers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan and the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council are attending the meeting. These are Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. The participants will discuss the progress of the implementation of the agreements adopted at the first GCC-Central Asia Summit in 2023.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov held meetings with Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud from Saudi Arabia, Abdullatif bin Rashid Alzayani from Bahrain and Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya from Kuwait as part of the event.

Following the event, the participants will release a joint statement. The parties are expected to discuss preparatory work and key issues of the next meeting, which is scheduled to take place in Samarkand in 2025.
