Turkmenistan and UK discuss trade relations

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron.

On April 24, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs David Cameron in Ashgabat. The issues under discussion included the promotion of trade and economic relations, Turkmenistan: Golden Age reported.

Berdimuhamedov and Cameron noted the positive dynamics of the development of bilateral trade, fruitful business cooperation and constructive interaction between the Turkmen side and the British companies. They identified the oil and gas industry, agriculture and advanced technologies as promising areas of partnerships.

The President of Turkmenistan and the UK Foreign Secretary considered key aspects of cooperation in education. In this context, the interlocutors dwelt on the implementation of targeted programmes and the promotion of English language teaching. They also considered fostering bilateral cultural dialogue.

«We attach great importance to promoting relations with foreign countries based on friendship, equality and mutual respect. We consider it necessary to use international law and exclusively tools of diplomacy to resolve emerging conflicts,» Serdar Berdimuhamedov said.
