Over 167,935 kg of humanitarian aid were delivered to the flood-hit regions, TASS reports. Senior Officer of the Committee for Civil Defence and Military Units at the Ministry of Emergency Situations Erasyl Saypash presented the latest news on the natural disaster.
According to the ministry official, since the flooding started, 96,500 people (including 31,6000 children) have been rescued, 2,800 people (including 865 children) have been evacuated by air, 7,600 people (including almost 3,500 children) are being housed in temporary shelters. 82,559 heads of livestock have been evacuated to safe areas.
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev said the state is ready to provide compensation for losses and damages caused by the natural disaster.
As was reported, severe floods have engulfed Kazakhstan in recent weeks, and a state of emergency was declared in several regions (Abay, Akmola, Aktobe, Atyrau, West Kazakhstan, Karaganda, Kostanay, Pavlodar, Ulytau).
