President of Turkmenistan reviews economic development indicators

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Geldimyradov reported on the macroeconomic indicators of the first quarter of the year.

On April 6, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Hojamyrat Geldimyradov reported on the macroeconomic indicators of the first quarter of 2024 at the regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Turkmenistan: Golden Age reported.

Geldimyradov noted that GDP rose by 8.8 percent compared to the same period last year. Retail turnover increased by 11 percent over 3 months.

In January-March, the revenue plan of the State Budget was fulfilled 102.9 percent, and the expenditure plan — 97.6 percent. Salaries of employees of government institutions and enterprises, pensions, scholarships and state allowances increased by 10 percent.

In the first 3 months of the year, 25.3 percent more funds were invested in the national economy than in the same period in 2023.

The implementation of the Social and Economic Development Programme of the President of Turkmenistan in 2022-2028 continues. According to the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, 20 of 370 facilities planned for construction and reconstruction has been completed; construction work on other facilities is underway at different stages.

Commenting on the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the need to ensure further GDP growth and development of the manufacturing sectors. The President underscored the importance of implementing the State Budget and using budget funds efficiently and effectively.
