President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov acknowledged that the road construction system in the Republic was «rotten» and added that he knew about citizens’ complaints about the quality of roads, Tazabek reported.
Japarov noted that the roads built by the Ministry of Transport quickly come into disrepair. He reminded that private contractors were involved in road construction projects over a long time, which often led to violations and corruption.
After Sadyr Japarov was elected as the President and his team began its work, changes started happening. The inspections at the Ministry of Transport were conducted. The system, designed to serve the interests of citizens, is gradually beginning to improve. Now road construction projects are implemented directly by the Ministry of Transport, and it is planned to purchase over 700 units of special equipment for this purpose.
However, the processes of purchasing equipment and addressing personnel issues are slow, and therefore cooperation with private contractors continues to complete the previously unfinished construction projects.
