Uzbekistan and China strengthen joint efforts to counter terrorism and extremism

The security cooperation programme for 2024-2025 was signed at the official talks on April 1.

On April 1, Minister of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan Pulat Bobojonov and the Chinese delegation led by Minister of Public Security Wang Xiaohong held talks in Tashkent. The parties expressed mutual satisfaction with the progress of partnerships in countering international terrorism and extremism, the press office of the Government of Uzbekistan reported.

The meeting was aimed at enhancing cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of Uzbekistan and China. Following the talks, the parties signed the cooperation programme for 2024-2025 between the two ministries.

The agenda also focused on joining forces to combat illicit drug trafficking and other types of transnational organized crime and conducting cybercrime and digital forensics courses for law enforcement officers. China and Uzbekistan are set to establish contacts between the Research Institute of Criminology under the Ministry of Internal Affairs and 4 research centres of China’s Ministry of Public Security in the future.
