Large companies in Kazakhstan instructed to strengthen ties with small businesses

The Government of Kazakhstan required that large companies promote cooperation with SMEs.

The large companies were instructed to double the number of long-term contracts with small and medium-sized businesses in the country by the end of the year, which would boost domestic production, the press office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported.

Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov said it is now mandatory for all large businesses to conclude such contracts, noting that they are needed to promote partnerships between small and medium-sized businesses and large companies.

To date, 20 long-term contracts worth 24.5 billion tenge and 13 offtake contracts worth 47.5 billion tenge have been concluded. Several enterprises in the  single-industry towns have concluded supply agreements with vendors on favourable terms.

However, the Chairman of the Government of Kazakhstan said these measures are not enough. Olzhas Bektenov tasked the large companies to increase at least twice the number of such agreements by the end of the year.
