Tajik migrants return en mass

According the Ministry of Labour, Migration and Employment of Tajikistan noted, this started after the terror attack at the Crocus City Hall.

The Ministry of Labour, Migration and Employment of Tajikistan reported a significant outflow of migrant workers from Russia to the Republic after the terror attack at the Crocus City Hall in Moscow Region. This statement was made by Deputy Minister of Labour Shahnoza Nodiri, TASS reports.

Nodiri said the number of requests to the Ministry is growing, noting that this is caused not so much by complaints of injustice, but by fear of potential troubles. The Deputy Minister said currently the number of citizens arriving in Tajikistan exceeds the number of those leaving.

However, according to the Deputy Minister, the outflow is a temporary phenomenon that will soon stop. She called on Tajik citizens not to succumb to provocations that are actively spreading through social media platforms. She emphasised that these messages aim to incite interethnic conflicts and exert pressure on Tajik citizens.

The majority of Tajik citizens have chosen Russia as a destination country for labour migration. In 2023, over 627,000 migrant workers out of 652,000 arrived in Russia from Tajikistan.
