President of Turkmenistan signs Decree on Pardon

Serdar Berdimuhamedov ordered the persons released from prisons be employed.

On March 29, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed the Decree to pardon 356 convicted persons in honour of the Holy Night Gadyr Gijesi at the government meeting on social and economic development, Turkmenistan: Golden Age reported.

Berdimuhamedov noted that following the tradition in the country, the persons convicted of crimes who regret and sincerely repent of what they have done are pardoned on the eve of the Holy Night Gadyr Gijesi. The President emphasised that benevolent actions, based on the principles of humanism and mercy, are regularly performed to relieve such persons from further penalties associated with their conviction.

In this regard, Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed Secretary of the Security Council Begench Gundogdyev together with the heads of law enforcement agencies to take necessary measures so that the persons released from prisons would return home to their families in the near future. The President instructed the heads of administrations of regions, districts and towns to ensure that the persons pardoned are employed.
