President of Turkmenistan and IRI Foreign Minister discuss fuel and energy sector partnerships

The parties expressed belief that the implementation of joint projects will give impetus to bilateral cooperation.

On March 28, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in Ashgabat. The interlocutors highlighted the importance of searching for new methods of fuel and energy cooperation to meet modern requirements, Turkmenistan: Golden Age reports.

The President noted that a key vector of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy is to promote multifaceted cooperation with foreign states, particularly with closest neighbours. In this regard, he emphasised that relations between the Turkmen and Iranian peoples have centuries-old cultural roots.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov said Iran is one of the major trading partners of Turkmenistan, focusing on the role of the Turkmenistan-Iran Group on economic cooperation.

The interlocutors urged to intensify relations in energy exports and transit, stating that the implementation of joint projects will contribute to strengthening bilateral cooperation.
