Tajikistan contributes to UN International Day of Zero Waste

The Permanent Representative of the Republic said the authorities of Tajikistan are set to build waste treatment plants.

Permanent Representative of Tajikistan to the United Nations Jonibek Hikmat took part in the event marking the International Day of Zero Waste. In his speech, he emphasised the importance of establishing interstate partnerships, particularly environmental cooperation, the Khovar National News Agency reported.

Hikmat noted that Tajikistan considers it important to implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Paris Agreement and other international initiatives that contribute to overall progress.

The Permanent Representative added that the Republic is working towards building small and large waste treatment plants. Furthermore, he informed that Tajikistan is taking measures to reduce plastic use and solve the problem of soil degradation. Hikmat stated that Tajikistan is ready to cooperate with all stakeholders to build a sustainable and stable society.
