Kyrgyzstan to attract more investors to green energy sector

A meeting with the renewable energy companies took place in the Republic.

Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan Taalaibek Ibraev met with the green energy, or renewable energy companies. The aim of the meeting was to discuss the development prospects of the industry and the strategies for attracting local and foreign investors to the energy sector, the press office of the Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan reported.

 Over 50 companies took part in the annual meeting this time. The officials answered questions from entrepreneurs and made a presentation on building equipment for power plants. The businessmen were informed of how to manage project documentation and were introduced to current tariffs. The participants also considered environmental issues and interaction with customs.

 The Minister emphasised the importance of continuing interaction with potential domestic and foreign investors to develop the renewable energy sector. The participants emphasised that most of the problems facing entrepreneurs are being resolved. Ibraev noted that unresolved issues need to be addressed now.

 Ibraev said an electricity shortage remains a pressing problem in the country. He emphasised that one of the main aims of such meetings is to solve the energy crisis in the republic. The Minister added that if entrepreneurs face challenges when building small hydropower plants, they should apply for support directly to the Ministry, bypassing intermediaries.
