President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev review the report on the development of weightlifting and football infrastructure in mahallas, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reports. The Uzbekistan-2030 State Programme envisages developing an individual training system for weightlifters and opening the Weightlifting Centre.
The Centre will be built in Chirchik town and house a specialized educational institution for 7th-11th graders. A weightlifting sports club will be founded with the support of the Council of the Federation of Trade Unions, and regional sports schools will open in several regions.
A three-year programme aimed at promoting weightlifting has been developed. It envisages stirring the interest of young people in this sport, creating favourable conditions for athletes, digitalizing selection processes, attracting qualified foreign specialists and adopting best practices. It is planned to hold tournaments, including the Central Asian championships and the Uzbekistan Open tournament, to promote weightlifting.
