Sadyr Japarov withdrew the draft law following the meeting with the heads of the media companies and ordered it to be revised.

On the instructions of President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, the draft mass media law, on which the special working group had been working for a long time, was withdrawn. Japarov met with the representatives of the local mass media to discuss the draft law, which is under consideration by Parliament, the press office of the President of the Republic reported.

After this meeting, the President decided to withdraw the draft law for further revision.

Japarov said the authorities are ready to continue a constructive dialogue with representatives of the media to ensure the transparency of the national information policy.

Earlier, the media community expressed dissatisfaction with the work done by the special working group led by Head of the President’s Department of Legal Support Marat Ukushev. The journalists requested that the President review the draft law and submit it to the Venice Commission for evaluation.
