Tokayev calls Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan natural partners

The leaders of the two states met in Baku.

The leaders of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev and Ilham Aliyev made a general statement to the media representatives, the press office of the President of Kazakhstan reported.

Tokayev noted that Kazakhstan-Azerbaijan cooperation exemplifies interstate relations based on friendship, mutual trust and respect. Emphasising the importance of top-level contacts, The President noted that the talks at the first meeting of the Interstate Council were very important. Particular attention was paid to transport and logistics capacities as a key area in the global fight for natural resources.

«This is a strategic area. It is gratifying that Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan closely interact in this area as natural partners,» Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev said.

 Furthermore, the importance of strengthening cooperation within multilateral organisations was highlighted. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of the talks and thanked Tokayev for the visit.
