Kyrgyzstan receives 320 computers from Switzerland for doctors

Minister of Health of the Republic Alymkadyr Beishenaliev said digitalization of the health sector will significantly reduce the burden on doctors.

Ambassador of Switzerland to Kyrgyzstan Olivier Bangerter handed over 320 computers, uninterruptible power supplies and Kaspersky anti-virus licenses for family doctors to Minister of Health of the Republic Alymkadyr Beishenaliev. The total cost of the donated equipment and software is 43 million soms, or $500,000, the press office of the Ministry of Health of the Republic reported.

The donated equipment and software will be distributed among 228 medical organisations in Bishkek and the southern regions of the country. These donations are expected to improve the quality of healthcare, particularly primary healthcare.

Beishenaliev noted that a key priority of the government programme on health protection and public health modernisation until 2030 is to promote e-health. In his opinion, modern equipment reduces the burden on health workers and shorten patient wait times. It will also facilitate monitoring and evaluation of public health programmes and activities.

He noted that computers from Switzerland would help the hospitals make treatment of non-communicable diseases more effective.
