Dushanbe to host World Judo Juniors Championships

The Vice-Chairman of the Judo Federation of Tajikistan said this is an excellent chance for young athletes to demonstrate their skills on the international arena.

The Judo Federation of Tajikistan and the International Judo Federation entered into an agreement to hold the World Judo Juniors Championships in Dushanbe. The document was signed in Tashkent, and the tournament will take place in October 2024, ASIA-Plus reported.

Vice-Chairman of the Judo Federation of Tajikistan Ergash Makhmadbekov said this tournament of tremendous importance for the Republic.

He emphasised that the international tournament will be an important step to promote judo in the Republic. The signing of the agreement will enhance the status of this sport and the influence of Tajikistan on the world judo arena.

Makhmadbekov expressed belief that the prestigious championships will help Tajikistan confirm its reputation of a centre of judo in the world. He also noted that this is an excellent chance for young athletes to demonstrate their skills to foreign guests.
