Tajikistan predicts economic growth to reach 8 percent

In 2023, GDP growth rate stood at 8.3 percent.

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon instructed the Government to ensure that Tajikistan’s economy will grow at a rate of at least 8 percent in 2024, TASS reported.

Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan Akhliddin Nuriddinzoda reported these figures during the meeting with diplomats and representatives of foreign organisations. The priority areas will include green economy, digitalization, investment attraction and launch of new production facilities.

In 2023, Tajikistan’s GDP grew by 8.3 percent, mainly due to the growth of industrial and agricultural production. Analysts at the Eurasian Development Bank note that domestic activity, particularly in the trade and construction sectors, contributed to significant economic growth.

Economic growth is projected to slow down to 7.3 percent in 2024 due to an expected slowdown in activity in Russia and other world economies. However, the programmes aimed at building up industrial capacity and boosting financial activity will sustain a high growth rate of Tajikistan’s economy.
