Turkmenistan and Romania to strengthen interparliamentary cooperation

The participants at the talks highly evaluated the positive experience of interparliamentary cooperation between Ashgabat and Bucharest.

On February 27, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan Annamammed Annayev and Co-Chairman of the Turkmenistan-Romania Interparliamentary Friendship Group, a parliamentarian Anquetil-Karoly Kolcsar in Bucharest. They discussed intensifying bilateral interparliamentary cooperation during the meeting initiated by the Turkmen side, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported.

The interlocutors noted with satisfaction the positive experience of interparliamentary cooperation between the two countries. They agreed to exchange the composition of the national friendship groups and consider holding their next meeting in Ashgabat this year.

Annayev informed his interlocutor that the members of the International Organization of Turkic Culture in 2022 unanimously supported Turkmenistan’s proposal to declare 2024 the Year of the Great Poet and Thinker of the Turkic World — Magtymguly Fraghi.

Noting the importance of promoting cultural and humanitarian partnerships, Ashgabat and Bucharest agreed to hold joint events dedicated to Magtymguly.
