President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev visited the Olga Rypakova Athletics Centre during his working trip to East Kazakhstan Region, the press office of the President of Kazakhstan reported on the Telegram channel.
An Olympic champion Olga Rypakova showed the facilities for training sessions to the President, noting that young athletes from the Centre successfully perform at tournaments. The Centre has become the venue for many major sporting events, including the Kazakhstan Winter Athletics Championships.
Currently, 713 athletes, who have showed good results at the national and international levels, are training at the Centre. In 2023, they won 281 medals.
Since 2015, the Centre has hosted the tournament with the status of World Athletics Continental Tour. Olga Rypakova expressed hope that the Centre will raise its status to the «silver» level. The President instructed the officials to renovate the arena and increase the prize fund to achieve this goal.
