Uzbekistan launches IT projects

The President of the Republic ordered the projects be developed late last year.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed three new projects aimed at developing Uzbekistan’s IT sector. He ordered the projects be developed in December during the meeting with the Ministry of Digital Development, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.

The President said the IT Park of Uzbekistan should provide about 100,000 jobs by 2030, and exports should grow to $5 billion.

To achieve these goals, it is proposed to introduce the Zero Risk programme, aimed at attracting IT services exporters to the regions. Businesses will rent unused state facilities for a year free of charge, be provided with equipment and receive a rebate that covers part of the cost.

It is planned to launch the Local to Global programme to support domestic IT companies in the global market. It provides for compensation of up to 50 percent of expenses for participation in international exhibitions and invitation of foreign experts. The President was informed about the Digital Inclusion Project that offers digital skills training to young people, women and people with disabilities.
