Mayor’s Office decides to shorten school hours in Bishkek

Private schools were advised to take weather conditions into account when organising learning activities.

Following the meeting between Mayor of Bishkek Aibek Junushaliev and the specialists of Kyrgyzhydromet under the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic, the department of education of the Mayor’s Office issued the Order on the changes in school timetables, the press office of the City Administration reported.

From February 17 to February 20, 2024, school hours will be shortened due to freezing cold weather. School classes of the first shift will start at 9:00, and school classes of the second shift will finish at 16:00. A class period was shortened to 30 minutes.

Kindergartens will operate as usual. However, parents may not bring their children to kindergarten, and this will not be truancy. Private educational institutions are advised to take weather conditions into account when organising the learning process.
