Authorities of Uzbekistan set to increase GDP to $160 billion

The Government of the Republic will implement large-scale reforms in the energy, agriculture, urban planning and business sectors.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev heard a report on key strategic reforms to be implemented in the Republic in 2024. It is planned to increase Uzbekistan’s GDP to $160 billion, the press office of the President of the Republic reported.

Reforms will be implemented in the five sectors: transport, entrepreneurship, energy, agriculture and urban planning to increase household income to $4,000 per capita.

The Government will continue to transform the economy and launch programmes to support an enabling environment for entrepreneurs and investors. The President set the task of providing access to high-speed Internet in each settlement of the country.

The participants discussed increasing the number of cities and districts with a population of over 300 people in Uzbekistan. Their number is expected to grow from 13 to 28 over the next 7 years. The President emphasised the importance of developing urban planning laws and designing urban master plans to prevent the unmanaged growth of settlements.
