Minister of Transport of Tajikistan Azim Ibrokhim told journalists about the subway project in Dushanbe during a press conference. He said this initiative is being implemented in cooperation and with the support of South Korea, Sputnik reports.
The project is to be implemented in 2024-2026. Ibrokhim noted that hydrogeological and geological surveys are currently underway in the capital of Tajikistan. Based on the survey results, the authorities will decide where and what type of subway will be built in the city. It remains unclear in which districts the above-ground or underground subway will be built.
Earlier, the authorities of the Republic reported that a road section with a length of over 10 km, stretching from the Southern Gate to the State Circus in Dushanbe, is being considered for construction of an above-ground subway. Its terrain and other factors make the section suitable for the construction of a subway.
