New Minister of Health of Kazakhstan meets with UN delegation

Several aspects were highlighted.

Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan Akmaral Alnazarova held a fruitful meeting with the UN delegation on the promotion of long-term cooperation in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. According to the press office of the Ministry of Health, such priority areas as the enhancement of immunization programmes, including HPV vaccination, prevention of non-communicable diseases, emergency preparedness in health care institutions and improvement of control over vaccine-preventable diseases were discussed.

Particular attention was paid to strengthening home visiting services for pregnant women and young children as part of universal patronage model to increase efficiency and identify the needs for improvement. Alnazarova highlighted the need to analyse the rise in autism spectrum disorders and developmental disabilities in children, relating it to the quality of screening.

The Minister informed about the intention to revise emergency action plans of health care institutions, identify priorities and develop a three-year plan. She emphasised the importance of international cooperation in countering global health threats, including the spread of synthetic drugs, building up capacities of AIDS centres and enhancing the response to migration challenges.
