Chairman of the Committee of Environmental Protection of Tajikistan Bakhodur Sheralizoda shed light on the reasons for cutting down trees in Dushanbe, Asia-Plus reports.
The official noted that over 1.7 million new trees were planted in the capital of the region in 2023. Furthermore, Tajikistan imposed a complete ban on cutting down trees, except for certain cases, such as sanitation requirements. In such cases, a special permit is issued after the relevant act is developed.
Deputy Chairman of the Committee Abdukodir Mavlodod added that developers must plant trees: 7 times more than they cut down. Furthermore, they are to create green areas around houses and plant green roofs on high-rise buildings. He called on citizens to understand that cutting down trees in the city is a necessary measure in some cases, for example, compliance with architectural design regulations.
