New automobile plant to be built in Kazakhstan

The enterprise will produce 90,000 cars annually.

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev met with the founder of Astana Motors Nurlan Smagulov at the President’s residence to discuss the company’s development plans, including the construction project of a new automobile plant, the press office of the President of Kazakhstan reported.

Smagulov reported in detail about the production capacity of the Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan and Hyundai Trans Almaty plants. In 2023, they produced 48,857 passenger cars and 981 commercial vehicles.

The President and the founder of Astana Motors discussed the construction project of a new multi-brand plant of Astana Motors Manufacturing Kazakhstan that will produce cars of Chery, GWM and other brands. Its production capacity will be 90,000 cars per year. Construction is scheduled to be completed by February 2025. Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev emphasised that the development of the manufacturing industry, including the automotive industry, is a key priority of Kazakhstan’s industrial policy.
