Kyrgyzstan amends law on ethnic Kyrgyz

Kayrylmans will get social benefits and the right to free medical care.

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov signed the Law on Amendments to the Law on state guarantees for ethnic Kyrgyz who move to the Republic. These amendments were adopted by Jogorku Kenesh in December last year, the press office of the President of the Republic reports.

The main changes concern the concepts of «kayrylman» (ethnic Kyrgyz who moved to Kyrgyzstan) and «kayrylman status». Along with legal status, these persons will get social status, which will be confirmed by a special document (kayrylman certificate).

Social status and the appropriate document will entitle ethnic Kyrgyz who have kayrylman status to government social benefits. These include medical care at state healthcare institutions, as well as the right to get a plot of land to build a house and do subsistence farming in settlements.
