Recep Erdogan to visit Tajikistan

The visit was postponed due to the devastating earthquake in 2023.

President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan scheduled a visit to Tajikistan for 2024. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Hakan Fidan made this statement during the meeting with President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, AA.com reports.

Erdogan was to pay a working visit to Dushanbe in 2023, but the devastating February earthquake cancelled these plans. Fidan noted that the visit is planned for this year.

Following the meeting with Emomali Rahmon, the parties expressed readiness to deepen cooperation in various fields, including economy, security, education and tourism, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey said. The implementation of joint projects, the removal of barriers to bilateral trade and investment, financing and investment issues were discussed during the visit.

The parties agreed to hold a meeting of the Joint Economic Commission. Turkey and Tajikistan agreed to cooperate in combatting extremist groups.
