On January 15, Vice-President of the European Commission Margaritis Schinas visited Bishkek, where he met with President of the Republic Sadyr Japarov, the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reports.
A wide range of issues, including priority projects, investment, financing, prospects of banking relations and regional security, were discussed. The President of Kyrgyzstan noted the importance of the upcoming Investor Forum in Brussels, which is aimed at developing transport links. He also touched upon the development of civil society and emphasised the importance of media freedom and unlimited Internet access.
Margaritis Schinas expressed belief that cooperation on financial and economic partnerships, climate action projects, digitalization and creation of transport corridors will be enhanced. He emphasised that the European Commission is ready to support Kyrgyzstan’s strengths in these spheres.
