On January 16, Deputy Minister Myakhri Byashimova met with Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General, Head of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia Kaha Imnadze at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported.
Myakhri Byashimova congratulated the UN Special Representative on his appointment to the high position. She noted the importance of the work being done by the UNRCCA to maintain stability in the region and strengthen mutual understanding at the interstate level.
The participants noted that Turkmenistan is seeking to enhance the role of the UN Regional Centre in promoting such diplomatic mechanisms as the Dialogue of Women of Central Asia and the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Head of the UNRCCA noted the importance of further cooperation in developing joint programmes on security, education and professional training of civil servants. The parties expressed readiness to implement the initiatives put forward by Turkmenistan at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.
They discussed the schedule of joint events for the near future.
