Employment rate in small and medium-sized businesses in Karaganda Region reported

It is planned to increase the share of small- and medium-sized businesses in GDP from 19% to 25% in 2024.

Karaganda Region Akim Ermaganbet Bulekpaev reported on the socio-economic development of the region in 2023 to President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, the Telegram channel of Akorda reported.

He reported that manufacturing output rose to 3.1 trillion tenge for the 11 months. Investment in fixed assets increased by 16,3%, reaching 727 billion tenge.

Ermaganbet Bulekpayev informed the President about the positive dynamics in the manufacturing industries, including the machine building industry engineering (45% growth), the light industry (23.9% growth) and the pharmaceutical industry (20% growth). Growth was also recorded in the paper, construction and iron and steel industry.

Small and medium-sized businesses employ 45% of the active population in the region; over 100,000 businesses operate. Retail tax for entrepreneurs was decreased from 4% to 2%. It is planned to increase the share of small and medium-sized businesses in GDP from 19% to 25% in 2024.

The Karaganda Region Akim reported that over 25,000 new jobs in various sectors of the economy was created, which contributed to reducing unemployment to 4,1% and poverty to 2,7%. Real incomes of the population rose by 4,7%.
