Turkmenistan and CIS agree on joint events in 2024

The Ambassador of Turkmenistan and the Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Independent States exchanged views on cooperation between Ashgabat and partners from the CIS Member States.

On January 10, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Russia Esen Aydogdyev and Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Independent States Sergei Lebedev held a meeting at the Moscow branch of the CIS Executive Committee. The interlocutors discussed the schedule of joint events in 2024, the press office of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Russia reported.

The interlocutors exchanged views on Turkmenistan’s involvement in integration processes within the Commonwealth.

In compliance with the status of neutrality, Turkmenistan is an associated member of the CIS and regularly takes initiatives to expand and deepen interaction with the CIS Member States.

As was reported, in October 2023, the delegation took part in a meeting of the CIS Commission on Economic Affairs, which was held in Moscow.

The participants discussed the draft Action Plan until 2030 on infrastructure optimization and development of transnational transport corridors across the territories of the CIS Member States.
