Uzbekistan raises prices for AI-80 gasoline

The zero excise tax on this fuel has been suspended this year.

Uzbekistan has suspended the zero excise tax on and retail sales of imported and local AI-80 gasoline. The excise tax was zeroed in accordance with the Decree of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev from December 10, 2022 until the end of last year to meet consumers’ needs during the autumn-winter season and achieve gasoline price stability, Sputnik reports.

After the zero excise tax was suspended, the price for AI-80 gasoline at Uzbekneftegaz and UNG Petro LLC fuelling stations dropped from 6,800 soums to 6,050 soums per litre. On January 1, 2024, the price for this brand of gasoline increased again to 6,800 soums per litre, and the price at private fuelling stations is even higher.

Prices for other brands of gasoline remained unchanged. On April 1, the excise tax on AI-80 gasoline will increase from 303,000 soums to 340,000 soums per tonne, and the excise taxes on diesel fuel and motor oils will rise as well. This is done in relation to amendments to the regulations due to changes in the tax and budget policy in 2024.
