President of Kazakhstan sacks Commander of Special Operations Forces

In late December 2023, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev sacked three officials.

Сommander of the Special Operations Forces Bolat Zhurabaev was removed from his post in accordance with the Decree of President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, Tengrinews.kz reports.

«By order of the President, Bolat Zharkhumbaevich Zhurabaev was removed from his post of Commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan,» the official website of the President of Kazakhstan reported in the Legal Acts Section.

Bolat Zhurabaev has occupied the high post since early 2022, after Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev set up the Special Operations Forces Command. These forces perform important tasks of ensuring the defence capacity and military security of the country, including the fight against terrorist attacks and illegal armed groups.

Together with the Commander of the Special Operations Forces, the President of Kazakhstan sacked Deputy Minister of Defence Mukhamedzhan Talasov and Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Kairat Suntaev.
